UNBEATABLE KIWIS.

New Zealand wins the Louis Vuitton Cup for the fourth time.

Five challengers entered the 35th America’s Cup, all with the goal of winning the Louis Vuitton Cup to qualify for the America’s Cup Match against ORACLE TEAM USA. In the end, it was Emirates Team New Zealand who emerged victorious, and then went on to defeat the Defender and claim the most coveted sailing trophy in the world.

EMIRATES TEAM NEW ZEALAND.

New Zealand.

It is hard to imagine recent America’s Cup history without the New Zealand team, which has been behind many headlines: its record reads two Cup wins and a further three appearances in America’s Cup Matches. The Kiwis almost racked up win number three in 2013, but were not quite able to get over the finish line after leading 8:1 against ORACLE TEAM USA. In 2017, they took their revenge: the New Zealanders defeated the Defender 7:1 to win the America’s Cup for the third time.

BEN AINSLIE RACING.

Great Britain.

The hopes of an entire nation rested on the most successful Olympic yachtsman ever: Sir Ben Ainslie has won a medal at five Olympic Games in a row, including four golds. As team principal and skipper, he was charged with winning the America’s Cup for Great Britain for the first time: something the Britons have been waiting for since 1851 – and must continue to wait for.

GROUPAMA TEAM FRANCE.

France.

Groupama Team France took part in the America’s Cup for the first time, yet France enjoys a long tradition at the most prestigious regatta in the world and has only been missing once since the introduction of the Challenger Selection Series in 1970. The team was led at the 35th America’s Cup by three of the biggest names on the French sailing scene: Franck Cammas, Michel Desjoyeaux and Olivier de Kersauson.
