Successful first edition of BMW Offshore Yachting Championship.

Great participation, one regatta between two countries and a team that for the first time will represent Romania at the BMW Sailing Cup in 2012 – this made the BMW Offshore Yachting Championship the most important event of this kind in the Black Sea area.

Successful first edition of BMW Offshore Yachting Championship.

The BMW Offshore Yachting Championship ended with the BMW Romania Regatta. Over the four events of the most important Championship of this kind in the Black Sea, organized by Yacht Club Romania, 36 yachts and over 300 participants from Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey have competed. Greece has been represented by the Principal Race Officers and the members in the International Jury.

The first competition of the Championship, the BMW Black Sea International Regatta has taken place between Mangalia (Romania) and Varna (Bulgaria). It was the most difficult one, with a total of 8 races during the five days of competition - 6 inshore races, one offshore race and one coastal race.

After that, the Beneteau Nautic Life Regatta and for the first time a BMW Press Cup, were conducted. The third competition, the Callatis Regatta was organized during the Romanian Navy Days and was followed by the final of the Championship – the BMW Romania Regatta.

The Championship winners (IRC International rating system) are: Simina, with skipper Iulia Fulicea, in the IRC Racing Class and also the overall winner of the BMW Offshore Yachting Championship, Hacuna Matata, with skipper Natalia Brailoiu, in IRC Cruising One and Teodora, with skipper Lucian Dragomir, in IRC Cruising Two.
