Skipper Rudolf Houdek and his crew won the inaugural BMW Club Cup for the Bayerischer Yacht Club (BYC). This club championship was contested during the weekend in co-operation with the Verein Seglerhaus am Wannsee (VSaW) on Berlin's Lake Wannsee. The most successful yachting clubs of the current season qualified for the regatta, with the criteria being that club members needed to have scored a podium place in an international class in a world championship event, or finished in the top three in an Olympic class in a world or European championship, or the ISAF World Cup.

Great participation, one regatta between two countries and a team that for the first time will represent Romania at the BMW Sailing Cup in 2012 – this made the BMW Offshore Yachting Championship the most important event of this kind in the Black Sea area.

The Berlin 1 team sailed its way to overall victory at the BMW Sailing Cup Germany Final in Hamburg. The crew of skipper Christopher Jantz, Frank Grzeca, Andrea Gebauer, Michael Rösner and Demian Schaffert finished first and third in the final two races to secure overall victory on the Elbe. Skipper Matthias Unger's team from Münster finished on the same points (two second places), but the better individual finish was enough to give the crew from Berlin the win.
