Only 630 days later, Nelson Piquet won the Formula One World Championship with a car generating up to 1,300 hp. After the foundation of BMW of North America in 1975, the iconic BMW 3.0 CSL won the 12 Hours of Sebring in the in the company's first year. A similar story was written in Zolder on the 11th March 1984, when Harald Grohs crossed the finish line first, driving a BMW 635 CSi in the company's first ever DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) race. In the same year, Volker Strycek finished fifth in the last race of the season to claim the first overall title for BMW.
