The most precious diamond in the Med.

Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez – the spirit and emotion of these words alone reveal the breath-taking spectacle that takes place on the Côte d’Azur each September. This highlight at the end of each sailing season attracts more than 350 yachts, spanning all sizes and ages. Majestic J-Class yachts, which competed for the America’s Cup in the early 20th century, make a spectacular sight as they go head to head in an unrivalled assembly of classic yachts, their gleaming varnish and sweeping lines drawing admirers from all over the world. At the same time, the most contemporary, state-of-the-art carbon fibre racing machines dazzle onlookers with their efficiency and power as they speed silently across the water.
First run as La Nioulargue over 25 years ago, born out of passion and friendship, the regatta was founded following a challenge between two keen sailors who held an impromptu race between Saint-Tropez and Club 55 in Pompelonne. Their spirit of competitiveness and camaraderie remains, and the values of tradition, teamwork, and fair play still live on and are shared by all participants.

A unique regatta.

"Saint-Tropez is fabulous, as we all know." With these words, BMW Yachtsport ambassador Löick Peyron begins his declaration of love to the French seaport and the Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez which, like no other regatta, shows all the beauty of yachting.

BMW Art Car on the road.

The Andy Warhol BMW Art Car #4 has fascinated art and automotive friends all over the world since 1979. In the autumn of 2016, it traveled to Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez for the first time and was impressed by the spectacular regatta and its incomparable atmosphere.

The regatta.

Tradition meets modernity. Mahogany meets carbon fibre. One week of regatta sailing is “interrupted” by the traditional “Lay Day”. In keeping with the spirit of Les Voiles, the Challenge Day requires even greater commitment from the volunteers: private challenges take place on the water, followed by parades and crew parties.

André Beaufils, President of the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez, says: "We are delighted to see BMW return to the Voiles de Saint-Tropez. This is a prestigious partner who will undoubtedly bring added value to the event."

Dr. Nicolas Peter, BMW Group Head of European Sales Region, says: "Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez is one of the most prestigious regattas in the Mediterranean and a jewel of the sailing world. It is perfectly suited to the BMW brand and, of course, to our flagship – the new BMW 7 Series."

The contrast between the magnificent past and the latest developments in yacht design also acts as an inspiration for BMW to consistently come up with innovative new designs and technology that are both timeless and reflect elegance.
